I returned to Eder Remo and it was twilight now with a very pretty purple sky. I went to the cave under the waterfall, turned on the one lamp that was accessible and kicked out the fish trap, positioning it where I knew I would need it (I won't give more away than that). I also made sure to use the Bahro stone that was there and nabbed another GZM.
Pool at Eder Remo
This Age is really a double Age and just on the other side of the pool from the waterfall is a linking book to the sister Age, Eder Gira. Eder Gira is a lush Age of pools and different species of trees. It is very small and doesn't take long to explore. Soon I had the four journey cloths here (leaving only one left) as well as the one Bahro stone. There is also the very easily found journey door which will only open once all journey cloths are found.
Again, I'm not going to give too much away but I will put a couple of hints here. The last journey cloth is back in Eder Remo but to find it you need to find a way of exploring the dark tunnel at the back of the cave under the waterfall. There is something you need to take with you from Eder Gira in order to accomplish this. Anyway, I got what I needed and returned to Eder Remo. I will completely leave out the details of what I did after this except that I was disappointed to find another clothing item missing. There used to be a pith helmet under the final journey cloth. Hopefully, these items will be added later, or perhaps they are simply found somewhere else.
With the seventh journey cloth in hand, I whipped back to the journey door in Eder Gira and walked in, greeted by Yeesha's familiar voice. Okay, I've got to be honest. I ditched her before she completed her speech on how the D'ni were not the first to find the Cavern. Instead it was a people she refers to as the Least (or the Bahro) whom found solace and humility in the Cavern. A humility that was taken advantage of by the arrogant D'ni. However, I did make sure to take the totem that was there by pressing on the hand symbol on the wall. Once that is done, you can go back to Relto through your book or by jumping into the Star Fissure that is below your feet, and who doesn't enjoy the jump?
Back in Relto I watched the first of four totems arrive and descend in place of where the Eder Remo book used to be. It was then off to Kadish Tolesa. I really enjoyed this Age my first time here, at least for a little while. Soon I found the linking book to the gallery and snapped pictures of all the keys that are here to the puzzles that are found in this Age. I linked back and began working on the viewer puzzle that opens the door to the next area. I pressed the third journey cloth that is cleverly hidden here and then descended the spiral stairs, lighting up the path at the bottom.
Kadish Gallery
Now I've got to be honest. This is the place that stopped me my first time through Uru actually ending my Uru experience for a period of months (I'm not one to go running to walkthroughs). After the long rest I decided to return to the path at the bottom of Kadish Tolesa but made no more progress than I did before. I walked the path to the door on the far side of the room again and again, and went back over what I had done in an attempt to find what I was missing. Finally, I reluctantly resorted to a walkthrough.
I know it's easy for me to say this when I didn't figure it out for myself, but I don't think this puzzle (and one more in this Age) is fair. The hints are just too obscure and the ruse of putting a door at the end of a clearly marked path was mean. A co-worker, and Myst fan, agreed with me and Uru was the last Myst game he ever bought. For him it wasn't fun anymore. So, I will put a couple of hints here for the would be traveller. One, as mentioned the door at the back of the room is a ruse. Two, apparently in Yeesha's rambling she says something about "walking between the lines" which is in reference to this. Three, if you look at the key to this puzzle that is in the Kadish gallery, there is a red square to the side which marks both the location of the real door and where you need to start the path.
Anyway, this time I did know what to do and got into the next area. I came to the edge of a lake of purple mist, very pretty, but I made sure not to let that distract me from grabbing the Relto page that can be found here. After the lake is a large pyramid which contains this Age's next unfair puzzle. Again, I'll admit to resorting to the walkthrough again, but again, I'm sticking to my claim that this puzzle is an unfair one. I don't like solving puzzle by just wandering around aimlessly until I happen to stumble upon the solution. Puzzles should be solved by being provided with enough pieces to accomplish the task. Here I don't feel there are enough pieces. I remembered that I needed to get the floor tiles in the pyramid to turn blue and I still don't know exactly what needs to be done in trigger this to happen. I pressed the blue button that can be found here which turns on the lights, ran around the floor a bit, then pushed the button again. The lights went off. I ran around some more, pressed the button, ran some more ... well, you get the picture. Eventually, the tiles went blue for some reason.
The Vault - Kadish Tolesa
And it's not like the solution is obvious now either. I don't feel bad in giving one more hint. Here it is: trees. Specifically, the one-trunk tree symbol that is found throughout this Age. Nothing more, that's it. I worked trough the final two puzzles which are fun to do if one remembers the "between the lines" theme that was established by the light/dark path puzzle at the bottom of the circular room. At the end of this age is missing clothing item number three. There is a linking book in the vault at the end of this Age that takes you to a future version of the same vault. Here, there used to be a cool, Centurion like, helmet. Not anymore, but there is a Relto page that I made sure I got. I then did the final death defying walk to the journey door, linked to the Bahro cave, listened to Yeesha drone about King Kadish's greed and the general greed of the D'Ni before taking my second totem back to Relto.
Like I said, a productive day.
